Software Developer

The role
You will be working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and be directly responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and operating a range of cutting edge technologies that meet the needs of an evolving nationally and internationally connected identity federation.
You will have a strong desire to learn new technologies and frameworks, contribute ideas and deliver real outcomes that make a difference. This position will allow you to collaborate as part of an internationally recognised team of software developers.
Ideal candidate
- Feature development and maintenance of web applications, comprising a majority of the following skills:
- Modern Java development with experience in, or a desire to learn, Kotlin;
- Git, and GitHub usage;
- HTML, CSS and client side JS frameworks;
- Automated code testing (i.e. unit tests, integration tests, etc);
- Participation in full peer review for all code developed by the team; and
- A desire to learn new languages and concepts as required.
- Delivering operational environments:
- Undertaking administration of Linux servers;
- Utilising Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies; and
- Using Ansible, CloudFormation or similar automation tools.
- Following processes for testing and implementing system changes to ensure operational uptime and security of our environment is maintained.
- Authoring concise, easy to understand technical documentation.
- Willingness to research new technologies and share outcomes with the team.
- Assisting tier 1 and 2 support staff to resolve complex issues for clients.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) on technical and non-technical topics with team members, AAF subscribers and international collaborators.
- Working independently and effectively on tasks.
- Excellent organisational skills including an ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

General Information
The AAF team is located in Brisbane. Depending on the role offered, positions can operate as part of a virtual team and be based in any major city centre. Some travel may also be required from time-to-time.
