The Role of the ORCID Consortium Lead

As Consortium Lead, AAF encourages the adoption of ORCID in the Australian higher education and research sector, as well as supporting existing members to ensure they get the most value from their membership.

The team covers a wide range of support requests from onboarding, strategic communications, right through to technical support.

How we support consortium members

  • Member onboarding and Administration

Managing the process of joining the Consortium, acting as the main point of contact between ORCID and members on membership questions, and running onboarding webinars. Managing the consortium administration from invoicing, to billing to  providing secretariat support to the governance body.

  • Technical Support

As the central technical contact for all members, our team are available Monday to Friday, 7am–4pm AEST (excluding Queensland public holidays).

The team handles Tier 1 support directly and escalates Tier 2 issues to ORCID if required.

We ensure member integrations follow ORCID outlined good practice, and represent member interests and provide feedback to ORCID on behalf of members.

  • Documentation and resources

Maintain a shared web interface for members that hosts ORCID related documentation, ORCID collaterals, FAQs, Q&A and collaboration tools up to date.

Escalation procedure

All Tier 1 issues are managed directly by AAF as Consortium Lead. If an issue can’t be resolved to a member’s satisfaction, it is escalated following the steps set out in the escalation chart.

Once escalated by our team, ORCID handles all Tier 2 incident resolutions directly.
