AAF were pleased to attend the TERN Science Symposium 2025, 2 – 3 July, in Brisbane.

The AAF was pleased to attend the recent TERN 2025 Science Symposium, hosted at the State Library of Queensland. This informative event brought together researchers, students, government and industry to share updates on cutting-edge ecosystem research, technological developments, data system innovations and collaborations.

The Symposium offered valuable insight into how TERN’s infrastructure is being leveraged to drive sustainable ecosystem management across Australia. TERN’s connection to the Federation ensures Australian researchers can seamlessly access services and data they need to undertake their valuable research.

AAF’s Solutions Architect, Anurag Katariya, co-presented with TERN, providing an overview of the Federation and current work underway with national research infrastructure partners to enable a seamless and secure research ecosystem for researchers.

TERN was one of the earliest national infrastructure service providers to integrate with AAF, offering seamless access to their valuable services.

TERN Science Symposium Themes:

  1. Biocomplexity – how, what, where and why
  2. Greenhouse gases – carbon and others
  3. About the future – e.g. modelling, predicting, forecasting, simulating, scenarios
  4. Monitoring methods – e.g. standards, collections and technology innovations
  5. About data – e.g. infrastructure, synthesis, trust, sensitivities, vocabularies
  6. Innovations in education, skills, training or outreach initiatives
  7. Earth Observation and in-situ validation
  8. Impact stories – e.g. leveraging TERN research infrastructure and data to contribute to the sustainable management of Australia’s environment.
