The Australian Access Federation (AAF) is conducting a survey to gauge a baseline understanding of trust and identity within the Australian research and technology infrastructure environment.
The Australian Government’s 2021 National Research Infrastructure Roadmap identified trust and identity as fundamental research infrastructure. Through this NCRIS enabled project, AAF is partnering with national research infrastructures to create a significant step change through a secure and globally connected research ecosystem.
AAF is building a Trust and Identity Framework that includes common policies, standards and technologies. Researchers will benefit from a connected network of services using one login to access multiple national research capabilities.
Your feedback will inform the design and delivery of effective engagement activities with Australia’s collaborative research community.
This survey includes 16 questions and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

What information will be collected

- the structure of the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) service or services you provide
- the types of users who access your service and how it fits into the research life cycle
- the NCRIS service offerings available
- your understanding of trust and identity.

Privacy Statement
The AAF is committed to protecting your privacy. All information collected as part of this survey will be managed in accordance with the AAF Ltd Privacy Policy (20 March 2019).
Storage of data
Data will be collected and stored using PointerPro. Further information on their data security policy can be found here: https://pointerpro.com/privacy/
Survey responses will be stored electronically on AAF’s computing systems and only accessible to the AAF. Analysis from these surveys will inform the activities undertaken as part of AAF’s Trust and Identity Pathfinder Project. Analysis of the results will also be published, in line with requirements of the AAF’s Trust and Identity Pathfinder Project.
The survey is intended to be anonymous and all efforts have been made to ensure anonymity. The responses to the survey are automatically anonymised and aggregated in a manner neither allowing for the identification of individual respondents nor for the attribution of individual responses to a respondent.
There will also be an opportunity for respondents to provide feedback on the survey.
Trust & Identity Survey Competition Terms and Conditions
This is a game of chance. By completing the Australian Access Federation (AAF) Trust & Identity Survey and entering your name and email you go into the draw for one-of-three (1 x 3) $50 gift cards from a choice of Coles/Myers, Mecca Cosmetica or Bunnings. One entry per person only. Gift cards are non-exchangeable and non-redeemable for cash.
Competition commences 9.00am (AEST) 25 September 2023 and closes at midnight (AEST) 31 October 2023. The random draw will be held at 11.00am (AEST) 1 November 2023 and winners will be contacted by email in writing and published on the aaf.edu.au and trust.aaf.edu.au websites.
The gift cards must be claimed by midnight 30 November 2023. AAF will attempt to contact the winner to make sure they are aware they have won a gift card. After all attempts to contact the winner have been exhausted and the gift card remains unclaimed AAF will draw another winning entry at 11.00am (AEST) on 4 December 2023.
